Presenters will first equip the group with an understanding of Idaho’s current energy portfolio and our leading potential sources of renewable energy, and will explore the untapped potential for energy saving measures. Two field trips are part of the class—one to a Mountain Home wind farm and another to Banner Bank, one of the nation’s most energy efficient buildings. Participants will learn about clean energy initiatives and projects in the Treasure Valley, including Boise’s new climate initiative, the use of geothermal in downtown buildings, sustainability initiatives at Boise State University, local efficiency programs offered by Idaho Power, the use of solar in our homes and businesses, and “smart growth” trends in the Treasure Valley. |
