By Liz Woodruff @ 10:24 AM :: 407 Views :: Nuclear Power, Bruneau nuclear reactor, SRA News Releases
Contrary to a published report Sunday, the Korean government is nowhere near cutting a deal with itinerant Idaho nuclear reactor developer Don Gillispie and his Alternate Energy Holdings, Inc., and in fact a Korean government official said AEHI is likely too small a company to do business with.

By Liz Woodruff @ 4:39 PM :: 268 Views :: Nuclear Power, Bruneau nuclear reactor, Idaho Energy Updates
The firm hoping to build a nuclear reactor in Idaho has turned its attention to a third site in less than three years – this time to Payette County, where billionaire Warren Buffett spent $13 million exploring a site only to walk away saying it didn’t pencil out. Also, you still have until Nov. 6 to weigh in on the important 6th Power Plan that will help guide the energy future for our region.

By Liz Woodruff @ 3:58 PM :: 602 Views :: Nuclear Power, Bruneau nuclear reactor, SRA News Releases
The would-be developer of a nuclear reactor on the Snake River in Elmore County now says he wants to build a reactor in Payette County, despite the fact billionaire energy tycoon Warren Buffett spent millions of dollars studying a Payette site only to conclude the project didn’t make economic sense. This is the third Idaho county Alternate Energy Holdings, Inc., has shopped for in its quest to build a reactor for which it has no money or property.

ID Energy Updae 8 14:AEHI Woes, Power Plan and Idaho Renewable Zones
By Liz Woodruff @ 2:49 PM :: 408 Views :: Nuclear Power, Clean and Renewable Energy, Bruneau nuclear reactor, Idaho Energy Updates
The Northwest Power & Conservation Council was expected to release its long-awaited draft 6th Power Plan for public comment and review Tuesday, but members from Idaho and Montana blocked the release. And the Office of Energy Resources is taking proposals from cities and counties to fund “renewable energy enterprise zone” projects, while Idaho Power is holding a series of meetings in Idaho and Oregon to answer questions about its proposed transmission line from Canyon County to Boardman, Oregon. Finally, AEHI filed its most recent quarterly report to the Securities and Exchange Commission, and its outlook is shakier than ever.

By Liz Woodruff @ 2:53 PM :: 451 Views :: Nuclear Power, Clean and Renewable Energy, Bruneau nuclear reactor, Idaho Energy Updates
There’s still time to jump online and join more than 1,000 clean energy advocates who have signed a petition encouraging adoption of key provisions of the 2007 Idaho Energy Plan. Meantime, the developer of a proposed nuclear reactor on the Snake River south of Mountain Home says he’s impatient with delays in Elmore County and is considering taking his project elsewhere. And the PUC has opened a case to consider rates paid by utilities to small power producers, while it also signed off on an Idaho Power contract to buy a power from a Magic Valley dairy digester.

AEHI May Take Its Vaudeville Nuke Scheme Elsewhere
By Liz Woodruff @ 3:04 PM :: 796 Views :: Nuclear Power, Bruneau nuclear reactor, SRA News Releases
The would-be developer of a nuclear reactor on the Snake River says he’s so tired of Elmore County not giving in to his demands that he’s thinking of taking his Nomad Nuclear Scheme to another county that may be more accommodating. AEHI CEO Don Gillispie says "several Idaho counties and the state" have rolled out the red carpet for his reactor, although that comes as news to the state and he doesn't identify the counties.

ID Energy Update 7 11: Nuke Plant Setback and Energy Forum
By Liz Woodruff @ 10:43 AM :: 487 Views :: Nuclear Power, Clean and Renewable Energy, Bruneau nuclear reactor, Idaho Energy Updates
The Elmore County Commission has sent a rezoning request for a proposed nuclear reactor on the Snake River back to the Planning & Zoning Commission, perhaps pushing further review of the project back a year or more. Meanwhile, next weekend’s Idaho Green Expo will feature the Idaho Energy Forum, which will bring key stakeholders together to discuss how to implement Idaho’s 2007 Energy Plan. And Utah’s IPP3 coal plant is officially cancelled, while the PUC will hold hearings on Idaho Power’s proposed Langley Gulch natural gas plant.

Would-Be Elmore Nuke Plant Financier Shutting Its Doors
By Liz Woodruff @ 3:14 PM :: 661 Views :: Nuclear Power, Bruneau nuclear reactor, SRA News Releases
The Texas firm that Elmore County nuclear reactor developers identified less than a year ago as their new financial partner told the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission Wednesday that it may restructure but for now “is no longer conducting business operations and is in the process of winding up.” The closure of Powered Corporation of Houston is yet more evidence that Alternate Energy Holdings, Inc., a recent transplant from Virginia and would-be developer of a 1,600MW nuclear reactor atop the Snake River outside of Hammett, is incapable of raising cash for its mystery reactor, said Snake River Alliance Executive Director Andrea Shipley.

For Immediate Release: Elmore Commissioners Consider Amendment to Elmore County Comprehensive Plan
By Liz Woodruff @ 9:28 AM :: 593 Views :: Nuclear Power, SRA News Releases

Elmore County commissioners on Monday submitted a request to the Planning and Zoning commissioners to examine possible changes to the current comprehensive land use plan’s identification of areas for industrial development. By so doing they acknowledged that the current application to build a nuclear reactor along the Snake River is in violation of the comprehensive plan and their request means the plan, which took several years to develop with countywide input, would have to be significantly altered to allow for the proposed facility.
