Nuke Developer to SEC: It Doesn't Look Good
By lwoodruff @ 3:49 PM :: 1111 Views :: 0 Comments :: :: Bruneau nuclear reactor, SRA News Releases
AEHI, the nuke developer wannabe in Elmore County, filed its required SEC form Aug. 14, and it's not a pretty picture. The company's report paints a grim picture of a company in obvious distress just a week after it announced it’s looking for another county or even state lands for the project. AEHI is short of cash, short of prospects for getting any cash, and now is casting around Idaho for another location for its reactor scheme. Even Sen. Mike Crapo says AEHI overstated his support for the project.

The Northwest Power & Conservation Council was expected to release its long-awaited draft 6th Power Plan for public comment and review Tuesday, but members from Idaho and Montana blocked the release. And the Office of Energy Resources is taking proposals from cities and counties to fund “renewable energy enterprise zone” projects, while Idaho Power is holding a series of meetings in Idaho and Oregon to answer questions about its proposed transmission line from Canyon County to Boardman, Oregon. Finally, AEHI filed its most recent quarterly report to the Securities and Exchange Commission, and its outlook is shakier than ever.

ID Energy Update 8 7: Energy Plan Petition, Nuke Developer May Take a Hike
By lwoodruff @ 2:53 PM :: 738 Views :: 0 Comments :: :: Nuclear Power, Clean and Renewable Energy, Bruneau nuclear reactor, Idaho Energy Updates
There’s still time to jump online and join more than 1,000 clean energy advocates who have signed a petition encouraging adoption of key provisions of the 2007 Idaho Energy Plan. Meantime, the developer of a proposed nuclear reactor on the Snake River south of Mountain Home says he’s impatient with delays in Elmore County and is considering taking his project elsewhere. And the PUC has opened a case to consider rates paid by utilities to small power producers, while it also signed off on an Idaho Power contract to buy a power from a Magic Valley dairy digester.

AEHI May Take Its Vaudeville Nuke Scheme Elsewhere
By lwoodruff @ 3:04 PM :: 1063 Views :: 0 Comments :: :: Nuclear Power, Bruneau nuclear reactor, SRA News Releases
The would-be developer of a nuclear reactor on the Snake River says he’s so tired of Elmore County not giving in to his demands that he’s thinking of taking his Nomad Nuclear Scheme to another county that may be more accommodating. AEHI CEO Don Gillispie says "several Idaho counties and the state" have rolled out the red carpet for his reactor, although that comes as news to the state and he doesn't identify the counties.

By lwoodruff @ 10:43 AM :: 733 Views :: 0 Comments :: :: Nuclear Power, Clean and Renewable Energy, Bruneau nuclear reactor, Idaho Energy Updates
The Elmore County Commission has sent a rezoning request for a proposed nuclear reactor on the Snake River back to the Planning & Zoning Commission, perhaps pushing further review of the project back a year or more. Meanwhile, next weekend’s Idaho Green Expo will feature the Idaho Energy Forum, which will bring key stakeholders together to discuss how to implement Idaho’s 2007 Energy Plan. And Utah’s IPP3 coal plant is officially cancelled, while the PUC will hold hearings on Idaho Power’s proposed Langley Gulch natural gas plant.

Would-Be Elmore Nuke Plant Financier Shutting Its Doors
By lwoodruff @ 3:14 PM :: 905 Views :: 0 Comments :: :: Nuclear Power, Bruneau nuclear reactor, SRA News Releases
The Texas firm that Elmore County nuclear reactor developers identified less than a year ago as their new financial partner told the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission Wednesday that it may restructure but for now “is no longer conducting business operations and is in the process of winding up.” The closure of Powered Corporation of Houston is yet more evidence that Alternate Energy Holdings, Inc., a recent transplant from Virginia and would-be developer of a 1,600MW nuclear reactor atop the Snake River outside of Hammett, is incapable of raising cash for its mystery reactor, said Snake River Alliance Executive Director Andrea Shipley.

ID Energy Update 6 11: Nuke Plant Rezone Vote Monday
By lwoodruff @ 3:25 PM :: 765 Views :: 1 Comments :: :: Bruneau nuclear reactor, Idaho Energy Updates
The Elmore County Commission is scheduled to vote Monday on a critical rezoning request by the would-be developer of a nuclear reactor atop the Snake River south of Mountain Home, and the applicant is already threatening to appeal the decision or petition for a ballot initiative if the decision doesn’t go his way. Also, the city of Boise has rolled out an impressive set of proposals on how to spend its $2 million in energy stimulus money, and Avista Utilities is asking the Public Utilities Commission to decide how renewable energy “green tags” should be handled.

Elmore Commissioners Express Concerns about Nuke Rezoning

Elmore County commissioners on Monday raised serious questions about whether to rezone 1,300 acres of prime agricultural land for a speculative nuclear reactor, suggesting the project may fly in the face of the county’s comprehensive plan. Commissioners deferred a vote on the project, however, until next Monday.

By lwoodruff @ 3:35 PM :: 755 Views :: 0 Comments :: :: Nuclear Power, Clean and Renewable Energy, Bruneau nuclear reactor, Idaho Energy Updates
The Idaho Public Utilities Commission has approved a quartet of Idaho Power rate hikes, while PacifiCorp filed its plan to meet future energy needs and Idaho Power was granted a request to delay filing its plan until the end of the year. And the Elmore County Commission will begin discussing a rezoning request by developers of a would-be nuclear reactor on the Snake River. Also, Boise Mayor David Bieter plans to open a green business incubator, and IDACORP has placed the transcript of its annual shareholder meeting online. That’s the meeting where shareholders voted for an initiative directing Idaho Power to prepare a plan for how it expects to reduce is greenhouse gas emissions.
