As of January 2010, applications for Combined Construction and Operating Licenses (COLs) have been filed for fourteen AP1000 reactors in the United States, two each at:
  • Shearon Harris Nuclear Power Plant in North Carolina,
  • William States Lee III Nuclear Generating Station in South Carolina,
  • Virgil C. Summer Nuclear Generating Station in South Carolina,
  • Vogtle Electric Generating Plant in Georgia,
  • Levy County Nuclear Power Plant in Florida,
  • Turkey Point Nuclear Generating Station in Florida
  • Bellefonte Nuclear Generating Station in Alabama

The federal government’s announcement Monday that a proposed uranium enrichment factory outside of Idaho Falls passed its environmental review with flying colors comes as no surprise, but raises serious questions about the quality of the environmental review and the government’s failure to address scores of questions raised by concerned Idahoans, the Snake River Alliance said.

AEHI Update: Would Be Nuke Developer Still In Big Trouble


After a February 3rd hearing, a federal judge agreed to lift the preliminary freeze on the assets of Alternate Energy Holdings, Inc., a freeze that had been in place since the filing of a Securities and Exchange Commission(SEC )complaint in December of 2010. The lift was accompanied by strict conditions intended to ensure that AEHI remains in compliance with securities regulations while awaiting trial on charges of fraud and deliberate intent to deceive investors.
