Boise, ID – The Ada County Highway District Thursday denied two peace groups a Citizen Use Permit to paint temporary “nuclear shadows” on sidewalks in Boise to commemorate the atomic bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, Japan.

Dangerous Precedent: Argonne Lab Seeks Exemption from 1995 Nuclear Waste Agreement

Argonne National Laboratory-West at INEEL wants to reverse a 25-year-old US policy against reprocessing irradiated fuel from commercial nuclear reactors. ANL is asking Idaho state officials to consider an exception to the 1995 Nuclear Waste Agreement that would allow ANL to accept irradiated nuclear fuel rods from a commercial nuclear power plant in Illinois and then to reprocess them.
