By lwoodruff @ 5:37 PM :: 159 Views :: 0 Comments :: :: Clean and Renewable Energy, Bruneau nuclear reactor, Idaho Energy Updates
The Idaho PUC accepts an unusual settlement between Idaho Power and several customer groups that sets a moratorium on future rate cases until 2012. Meanwhile, the PUC and the Office of Energy Resources file their report to the Legislature on how they believe they are implementing Idaho’s 2007 Energy Plan, and the Payette County Planning and Zoning Commission approves a change to the county’s comprehensive plan that could allow for an eventual rezoning of property as a step toward development of a nuclear reactor. Finally, Micron Technology signs a deal with an Australian firm to get into the solar PV manufacturing business at Micron’s Boise campus.

Just five days after the would-be developer of an Idaho nuclear reactor touted an imminent deal to import Korean nuclear reactors to Idaho, the state-run Korean reactor manufacturer quickly denied the deal is in the works. Also, Idaho Power filed its 2009 “Integrated Resource Plan” with the Idaho PUC, outlining how it expects to meet future energy needs for the coming two decades. Idaho Power also reported to the PUC how it plans to manage the credits it receives from renewable energy projects. And the BLM has released proposed and alternate routes for the proposed Gateway West transmission project that will span southern Idaho.

The firm hoping to build a nuclear reactor in Idaho has turned its attention to a third site in less than three years – this time to Payette County, where billionaire Warren Buffett spent $13 million exploring a site only to walk away saying it didn’t pencil out. This is the third Idaho county Alternate Energy Holdings, Inc., has shopped for in its quest to build a reactor for which it has no money or property.

Nuke Developer to SEC: It Doesn't Look Good
By lwoodruff @ 3:49 PM :: 794 Views :: 0 Comments :: :: Bruneau nuclear reactor, SRA News Releases
AEHI, the nuke developer wannabe in Elmore County, filed its required SEC form Aug. 14, and it's not a pretty picture. The company's report paints a grim picture of a company in obvious distress just a week after it announced it’s looking for another county or even state lands for the project. AEHI is short of cash, short of prospects for getting any cash, and now is casting around Idaho for another location for its reactor scheme. Even Sen. Mike Crapo says AEHI overstated his support for the project.
