Facing overwhelming community opposition and a skeptical county government, developers of Idaho’s Vagabond Nuclear Reactor surrendered Tuesday and withdrew their rezoning application in Elmore County, retrenching instead to Payette County where their project is every bit as much a long shot.

Former AEHI Financier Strikes Fraud Plea Agreement

The president of a venture capital firm identified by would-be nuclear reactor developer Alternate Energy Holdings, Inc., as the source of $150 million in investments in AEHI’s Idaho nuclear scheme and who was charged with securities fraud has reached a deal with the Utah Attorney General’s office that will clear his record after he completes probation, according to The Salt Lake Tribune.

Elmore County Comp Plan Decision Still a Red Light for AEHI

Mountain Home, ID: On March 24, the Elmore County Planning and Zoning Commission held a public hearing to take comments on proposed language that would amend the county’s comprehensive plan to allow heavy industry to locate in areas other than the Simco Road district of the county. The commission voted 4-2 to amend the comprehensive plan to allow for further heavy industry. That recommendation will now go before the County Commission. The Board of Commissioners can accept or reject that recommendation, hold additional hearings, or adjust the proposed language.

Contrary to a published report Sunday, the Korean government is nowhere near cutting a deal with itinerant Idaho nuclear reactor developer Don Gillispie and his Alternate Energy Holdings, Inc., and in fact a Korean government official said AEHI is likely too small a company to do business with.
