Idaho Energy Update Oct 3: Nuke rezone, PUC takes on soaring energy bills posted 10/3/2008
Elmore County’s Planning & Zoning Commission opens a series of hearings this week on a rezoning request by the developer of a would-be nuclear reactor south of Mountain Home. In other news this week, the Idaho PUC set workshops to discuss impacts of rising energy bills on consumers; a big new Intermountain Gas price hike has taken effect; DOE has a new energy-saving website up; the Salmon River Electric Co-op is looking at renewables; and Idaho Power has posted a new solar study for SW Idaho on its website.
Idaho Energy Update Sept. 26: AEHI Delays NRC Filing posted 9/26/2008
The developer of the proposed Elmore County nuclear reactor has notified federal regulators that he’ll submit his permit application this time next year rather than this time this year, as originally proposed. AEHI still hasn’t told the feds what kind of reactor it hopes to use for its Idaho project. Meanwhile, the Idaho Department of Environmental Quality is looking for public input on a proposed coal gasification plant in Power County, and Idaho Power and its clean energy partners are poised to begin a month of energy efficiency awareness programs in October.
Snake River Alliance Actively Pursuing Alternate Energy Holdings, Inc. Lawsuit posted 9/25/2008
On August 22, 2008, the Alliance was sued by Alternative Energy Holdings, Inc. for alleged defamation of character. At this time, the Alliance has secured local legal counsel and will not be distracted from acting as Idaho’s nuclear watchdog and advocate for clean energy.
Elmore County Planning and Zoning Commission Announces Rezoning Hearing Dates posted 9/25/2008
The Snake River Alliance plans to be present for each Elmore County Planning and Zoning Committee meeting pertaining to the possible rezoning of agricultural land to industrial in order for Alternate Energy Holdings, Inc to begin proceedings for their proposed nuclear power reactor.
